One-on-one coaching to take your work directly where you want it to go. No more generic workshops, googling for answers, or struggling with technical and artistic blocks on your own.
Cinematic upgrades are here.
Let me help you tell your story.
Need a cinematic upgrade on your aesthetic? I can do that. Looking to find some more ease in your workflow? I've got you. Have a specific Youtuber or director who has aspects of their work you want to emulate? I can take you there too.
START WITH A FEELING
Hello! My name is Vaughn Greve - and I'm a full time cinematographer based in Los Angeles. I've loved watching Youtube for a long time - and have always admired the medium's ability to allow anyone to pick up a camera and tell their story.
Although I've seen many Youtube classes and workshops on how to make videos, I've also noticed that many Youtubers, even with huge followings, often seem to struggle with technical issues - of composition, lighting, color grading, and visual storytelling, or, once they have the basics nailed, want to push the boundaries of their work towards videos that are much more cinematic, but don't know how.
It's my job to take your work to the next level - and unlock technical and storytelling prowess that makes your stories easier and more enjoyable to tell, through specific and specialized advice on workflow and cinematography gear. I don't want to provide a generic workshop - I want to give you technical, specific, and actionable advice catered to where you are at, what you need, and where you struggle - as an artist, a teacher, or a storyteller.

About me
I am a commercial, documentary, and narrative cinematographer. Based in Los Angeles, I also work out of New Orleans, Louisiana and Santa Fe, New Mexico. A few of my clients include Vice, Sony, Netflix, Extra Gum, Audubon Nature Institute, Aveda, Refinery 29, KCET and Adult Swim.
I hold an MFA in Cinematography from AFI Conservatory, where I was a recipient of the prestigious Tom Yoda Scholarship Award, and trained to shoot on 35mm film. My work is informed by a BA in Film Studies from Barnard College, Columbia University, a 35mm film program at FAMU, and three years as a screener and script reader for Sundance Film Festival. I am currently a Film Independent Project Involve Fellow of 2024.
I believe in the capacity of storytelling to create radical empathy, and care deeply about work that revolves around climate change. I strive to make imagery that is vital, visceral, and life-affirming. When not working, I can be found flying my drone in the mountains, developing film, or camping in the desert.
I want to help content creators make work that is more cinematic, more artistically rewarding, and more technically polished.
How does this work?
The Cinematic Package (two hour long zoom meetings, with email assistance)-
Before our initial meeting, I’ll send you a questionnaire designed to clarify your struggles and provide a holistic picture of where you are at in your video-making journey. I’ll also be watching 10-20 of your films, in order to provide context to your questions and provide constructive feedback right off the bat.
During our initial hour long zoom meeting, we will go over the questionnaire in detail and formulate a plan to help you get to your goals.
In between, I’ll be available by email for follow up questions.
Two weeks later, during our second hour long zoom meeting, we will troubleshoot any new issues - whether it be some difficulties around a story structure, a lut that doesn’t quite look right, or a new workflow that is just taking too long to implement.
Additional follow-up meetings can be scheduled from there.
